Region of York – Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer

Southeast Collector Trunk Sewer

Summa’s broad experience and capabilities in the manufacturing of high quality control panels and supply of instrumentation for use in municipal water / wastewater process automations systems in addition to the ability to continually and effectively respond to the dynamic scope of work lead to the successful completion of the project.

Background

Overall this was a “Big Pipe” project that connects the waste water system from York Region in the north to the Region of Durham waste water trunk in the south for processing at the Duffin Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant on the shore of Lake Ontario.

The main project included tunnel boring and access shafts done by Strabag (Primary General Contractor). The secondary project dealt with tunnel-related electrical and mechanical systems, and included all of the above-ground facilities done by Maple Reinders (as the General).

In support of the above, a large amount of PLC, Local Control, and Communication Panels were required, along with instrumentation and monitoring equipment.

Scope of Work – Control Panels and Instrumentation

The goal was to deliver on schedule and on budget to meet and exceed the expectations of this major upgrade project – all work conducted under strict compliance to Region of York Standards

Summa was responsible for supplying and commissioning instrumentation and remote monitoring equipment, manufacturing and commissioning of a large number of PLC panels, control panels, and network access closets, and the supply and installation of the related communication (radio based) equipment.
