Point Pleasant Water Treatment Plant Upgrades

Summa’s broad experience and capabilities in the manufacturing of high quality control panels and supply of instrumentation for use in municipal water / wastewater process automations systems in addition to strong project management and timely commissioning lead to the successful completion of the project.

Background

The goal of the upgrades was to increase the plant capacity from 45 million LPD (litres per day) to 80 LPD

The Scope of the Project included:

  • New Filter Building
  • New chemical storage facilities for process chemical storage and metering
  • New electrical distribution, emergency power generator, new SCADA telemetry system
  • New High Lift Pumping Station
  • Extensions/Upgrades to mechanical room, electrical room, control room, washroom etc.

Intricate coordination of work with contractors and owner was required to phase and schedule activities around peak seasonal requirements for water supply

Scope of Work – Control Panels and Instrumentation

The goal was to deliver on schedule and on budget to meet and exceed the expectations of this major upgrade project – all work conducted under strict compliance to Utilities Kingston Standards

Summa was responsible for manufacturing and commissioning of ten (10) major PLC panels as well as a large number of related local control, analyzer, and communication panels, and the supply and commissioning of process instrumentation
